Organizations that commit to diversity-equity-inclusion-accessibility (DEIA) without centering facilitation as the critical organizational practice will achieve little more than performative outcomes. The very idea of inclusion demands a facilitative approach. Of what vale are the ‘diverse’ voices around the table without the practices and behaviors necessary to animate and amplify those voices? How we listen, how we recognize, and how we synthesize matters, and matters a lot.
